Chapter 1:
the year when everything changed
It was 2012. Shiera Aryev, who had hired me as a Graphic Designer for a fledgling Canadian startup, told me after a project review that I was “made to be a UX Designer”.
I had never heard about “UX” then, but the more I learned, the more I was hooked.
She was right. I was unhappy being a graphic designer. I felt there were too many problems in the world in need of a solution and I wanted to personally help solve them.
6 years later, I’ve been helping solve very real problems at FreshBooks, a cloud accounting solution used by millions of small business owners around the world.
Most recently, I helped design a completely reimagined version of FreshBooks. Here are some highlights from that process:
